Target REDCard Rocks!

Over the weekend I put my Target REDCard/eBoxtops plan to the test.  I bought a bunch of stuff online at Target, selecting only items that we actually really need and use, and items that are available online.  I also checked that the price for the online items was the same as in the store.  The bottom line: I spent $57.69.  SEA gets $1.44.  That's 2.5% of my spending at Target going to the school!  I think its a win-win-win all around: I got my shopping done during a snowstorm, my kid gets new undershirts and socks, and the school gets a nice contribution!

Read on for a summary.

Creepy, Crawly Halloween!

So Isaac has announced that he is too old for Halloween, but his sisters will be dressed as a Pirate and a Leopard.  Buying online earned 33.4 eBoxtops for the school.  That's $3.34, or about 4% of what I spent. Plus, I still got all my Marriott Rewards points!  Go crazy and decorate your yard for a good cause!

It doesn't end there - Nordstrom's and Best Buy are on the program, too!  It's really amazing what's available.

Think about it....with Christmas and Hanukkah just around the corner, if the school could capture 4% of what people spend on gifts, it would really go a long, long way!

Share this with all the Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents out there!

Cheers,

Howard

Halloween is Around the Corner - does your kid have a costume?

Are you about to be caught off guard with Halloween again this year?  Guess what?  You can solve that problem and help raise money for St. Edmunds! How is that possible?  Very easy: just shop online with eBoxtops! Its just like the old fashioned pink boxtops that we have been clipping for years...except its digital!  It's as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Go to the Boxtops Website and create an account: www.btfe.com.
-click 'sign up'
-find our school (enter 15217, then scroll down the list until you find it)
-fill in the boxes to create an account

2. Go Shopping! Click the 'EARN ONLINE' tab at the top of the web page
-type in 'power ranger costume' and solve your problem!
-or click 'See All Participating Stores' to find Halloween Express or your favorite store

3. Repeat!
-Whenever you shop online, go to btfe.com first, then shop from a vendor using this site
-The number of eBoxtops varies from 1 to 10 per $10.  For example, Target.com gives 1.5 per $10.  So if you spend $100, that's 15 eboxtops, or $1.5 for the school!  (1.5% for all you smart guys out there!)

If you have any trouble, shoot me an email and I'll try to help you sort it out.

The fine print:

Here's how it works: the eBoxtops site puts a 'cookie' on your computer.  When you click on a store from the eBoxtops site, your browser will redirect to that store.  The store website will see the cookie when you check out and send the points to eBoxtops.  There is no charge to you, and it is on top of any other discounts or credit card points programs you might participate in.

Right now (10/9/2013) there are just a couple SEA people participating.  However, I think it is a great deal.  Look forward to more helpful reminders about how everyone can use this program.

Welcome!

I started this blog to help people find information on the Boxtops for Education program for St. Edmunds Academy.  Over the school year, I want to do two things with the program.  The first is to make collecting and dropping off the boxtops fun.  Look for changes on the bulletin board in the cafeteria!

The second is to take advantage of the online shopping deal.  There is a huge, and I mean, HUGE list of merchants that give out eBoxtops just for shopping online.  All you do is resister on the BTFE site, then shop as you ordinarily would.  It works in the background by putting a cookie on your computer.  Each boxtop is worth 10 cents, and the merchants give away 1-10 eBoxtops per $10 spent.  For example, Target.com gives 1.5 for eavery $10.  So if you spend $100 on Target.com, that's 15 eBoxtops, or $1.50 for the school.  This doesn't cost you anything!  Free money!

Oh my god, you are concerned about the cookie and the privacy, right?  Well, get over it! The online merchants already have cookies on your computer.  They know what you are buying and what web sites you are browsing and what you are searching for anyway.  So why not let them pay the school for the privilege?

I will post instructions on how to register separately.

Until then, keep saving those boxtops!
